The 5 top tips for pure romance
Julia Rinesch tells us of the places that make her daydream
If all the benches, piers on the lakes or idyllic places in the mountains could tell stories, what romantic whispers would we get to hear? If you have not yet said those beautiful words to your loved ones, then you may find the perfect place for your declaration of love here in the region “Villach – Lake Faaker - Lake Ossiacher”.
1. View into infinity-The Taborhöhe at Lake Faaker
What I am telling you now is not only my personal favourite, but also a real insider tip. If you stand in front of the outdoor restaurant garden at the Taborhöhe looking towards Lake Faaker and follow the small path on the right, you will reach an almost magical place. A rock ledge in the middle of the trees with unobstructed views of the sunset. With a bit of luck, you have the place all to yourself, especially in the later evening hours.
2. Pampering program for all senses-The "Stofflwirt"
Whether in fine weather on the terrace or rather sheltered in the restaurant area - the Stofflwirt in Bodensdorf is a really romantic place with a sensational view of Lake Ossiach and the surrounding region. Your appetite will also be satisfied because the Stofflwirt prepare special delicacies with many regional products and an extra pinch of love, which you can most certainly taste. It is best to book in advance!
3. Above the clouds-The Wetterkreuz on the Gerlitzen
The perfect place to celebrate the sunrise. Up here at around 1700 meters above sea level, your worries remain in the valley. It is best to drive by car via the Gerlitzen Alpine Road (toll) to the Mountain Resort Feuerberg and then walk uphill to the Wetterkreuz which takes about 20 minutes, and then just enjoy and relax.
4. A late-night sea of lights - The panoramic park of the Villach Alpine Road
Of course, it is not the Alpine Road that is the highlight here, but the parking lot "P2." From here you have the best view of Villach and especially at night, when thousands of lights shine in the valley and the stars sparkle in the sky – perfect for romancing and maybe even heartfelt declarations of undying love.
5. A highlight of Villach - St. Johanner Kircherl Church
Close to the city, yet you feel as if you are on another star. At St. Johanner Kircherl church, it's not just the view of the Julischen Alps and the Karawanken that call to you, but also the ancient, huge trees under which you can daydream to your heart’s content - of love, for example.
